            Where as it is necessary for not allowing any person driving a motor vehicle or causing or allowing a motor vehicle to be driven in any public place at a speed exceeding the maximum speed or below the minimum speed fixed for the vehicle and  in supersession of  all previous orders in this regard, I, Goutam Mohan Chakrabarti, Commissioner of Police, Kolkata, in exercise of the powers vested in me under section 112(2) M V Act, 1988 and Section 62 of Calcutta Police Act/ 39 of Calcutta Suburban Police Act 1866 do hereby order that the speed of motor vehicles on the following stretches would be restricted as enumerated / appended below in the interest of public safety and convenience until further orders.

If the vehicle is an articulated vehicle, all the wheels of which are fitted with pneumatic tyres, which is a heavy goods vehicle or heavy passenger motor vehicle.

If the vehicle is drawing not more than one trailer, or in the case of artillery equipment, not more than two trailers and all the wheels of that vehicle and the trailer are fitted with pneumatic tyres.

a)

If the vehicle is a light motor vehicle, and the trailer being two-wheeled has a gross vehicle weight not exceeding 800 kilograms.

b)

If the vehicle is a light motor vehicle, and the trailer has more than two wheels or a gross vehicle weight exceeding 800 kilograms.
